Working at the forefront of construction design and technology, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience while working as a key stakeholder in the preconstruction stage of multiple big-ticket projects.

Role

Reporting to the Procurement Director, the Estimator will produce estimates for the construction projects from drawings, specifications and historical information. Working closely with the design, procurement, planning and commercial departments, the Estimator will be required to take initiative in sourcing the necessary information to produce their estimates. They will be regularly relied upon to advise of costs at every juncture of the projects. Where there is limited information available, they will be expected to use their experience to make judgement calls in relation to budget costs.

Desired Skills and Experience

 

  • 5 years’ estimating experience working on high value projects (developer or main contractor preferable)
  • Construction related degree (graded 2:1 or higher)
  • Broad knowledge of industry labour rates and material costs

 

Key Duties

  1. Produce and issue tender packages to Subcontractors and Suppliers
  2. Analyse submitted tenders and present information in a comparison format
  3. Research costs for materials, equipment and labour
  4. Understand the contract ERs, specification and design
  5. Carry out take offs on all elements of construction
  6. Produce detailed Bills of Quantities ensuring technical and commercial compliance
  7. Carry out risk assessment of projects and highlight any present risk
  8. Analysing company data, exchange rates and prices using software packages
  9. Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities
  10. Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are in line with forecasts
  11. Arrange and complete site visits
