The first labour exchange was established by social reformer and employment campaigner Alsager Hay Hill in London in 1871. Over the years it became a common way of employment and now it’s bigger than ever, with the latest analysis showing that the industry is worth over £35 billion to the UK economy.

I still remember my first day – lots to learn of course, and plenty of challenges ahead of me, but what I remember the most was hundreds of faces before me, each with their own unique story, hopes and fears, and some of them very similar to mine. It was the greatest feeling to know that even if, just for one moment, I’m being part of their lives and if I do my job well, those hopes will come true and their fears will fade away.  The best part of it is that I still get to relive this first day, pretty much every day.

There is, of course, another side to it – hard work and constant development. I work in a great and supportive team and it definitely helps me do my job well. Every day each of us shows up at the office with a huge smile and a ‘can do’ attitude but I know it’s our joint effort that gives the best results. It’s an emotional ride, but at the end of the day I know it was worth it. In our Industry to have results means to help others find their dream  job, the first step to better tomorrow.

Personally, I like new challenges, changes and a fast paced environment. I discovered, that working in the Recruitment Industry gives me just that. Every day is different, time literally flies by and the best part: I get to meet fantastic people and change their lives for the better. It gives me great pleasure to help candidates with their job search and trust me not to let them down.
